Logo As Website Header

Most of my clients have their own websites or blogs and when they order a logo design they would like that design to be their website or blog header as well. You would think that this is easy peasy: just upload the logo image to the header area of your blog or website. Unfortunately it is not that simple since all websites and blogs use different sizes for their header areas which might result in a distorted or cut off logo image.

I create all my logos at 5000 pixels (that equals 16.66 inches or 42.33 centimeters). The height of the logo image will vary according to the design that I make. Anyway, the chance that the ratio between width and height of the logo is the same as the website header area is pretty small and this can result in a distorted display of your logo image.

Example: your website header area is 1000 pixels wide and only 100 pixels high. That is long and narrow:

Now you want me to create a circle shape logo for you. When you upload your logo into your website this is what happens:

Not a pretty sight huh? It's very difficult to see what it is actually.

Therefore it is very important that when you want to use your logo image as your website or blog header that we figure out which size and shape your website header is. In the above case of a long and narrow header space I would never advise to use a circle shaped logo.

To find out the size of your website / blog header area you can contact the designer of your website / blog, he or she should know. But if that is not possible you can give me a link to your blog or website and in most cases I can figure it out that way.

So when you are ordering a custom logo design, one of the questions in the questionnaire is whether or not it is important for your to use your logo as your website header. You will still get your logo in the large 5000 pixel size but I will also create an image that is the exact size to fit your blog or website.
